The beginning...

...finally, of the Al Franken Decade. Or the Al Franken six years, at least. Close enough.

Bleak, even horrific news abounds. With the new year only five days old, I'm trying to avoid being overwhelmed by taking satisfaction from the bright spots that present themselves.

Update: 5:50 pm, 30 June - Okaaaaay, that was a long pause. Now the Al Franken Decade gets underway!

It is sad that Coleman, who had urged Franken to concede when Coleman appeared to be winning, so that the healing process could begin, now challenges Franken's election in court.

Sad, yes, but also completely in character.

What's sad is that Minnesota election law provides the incentive, because the state can't certify an election winner until all the legal challenges are completed. Which could take more than a month, though with Republicans footing the bill for this final holding action, it might not drag out for the maximum theoretical length.
